On an unspoilt stretch of Cornish headland, back dropped by panoramic ocean views, stands The Barefoot Amphitheatre. It is here that folk outfit Lily & Meg and Dream-pop duo The White Bicycles will be hosting a springtime special of the popular live music showcase ‘The Somerwick Sessions’ on Saturday the 18th of May.
The Somerwick Sessions was set up by at the end of 2012 in a bid to create an intimate, acoustic monthly music night, where it is all about the music. Headlining the afternoon-long event will be critically acclaimed duo Saturday Sun, whose mix of folk, rock and psychedelia has been championed by Q Magazine and BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson. Also confirmed are hosts The White Bicycles and Lily & Meg alongside popular local bands Rafiki, Black Persuasion and Lantern Quartet. To top off the festival feel, local artists and craftspeople will be displaying and selling their wares, whilst refreshments will be provided by local caterers The Cornish Codfather, La Creperie de Sophie, The Rebel Brewing Company and Cornish Orchards Cider.
This is a unique opportunity for people of all ages to sample an array of musical talent, in a truly spectacular location. Tickets are priced at £10 or £7 with valid student I.D and are available from Sheoak Guitars in Falmouth, Falmouth University’s Tremough Campus Shop.
