Folk singer, songwriter and virtuoso fiddler Seth Lakeman unearthed hidden histories and unsung everyday heroes to commemorate in song for his new album 'Word of Mouth' which stormed into the charts on its release in February this year. The album includes 12 brand new songs including the BBC Radio 2 playlisted single ‘The Courier’. Seth will be joined by his multi-instrumental band on his October tour playing songs from Word of Mouth and other live favourites.
Recorded in North Tamerton Church in Cornwall, Word of Mouth straddles the folk tradition his music is steeped in and the contemporary folk movement that he has become such a seminal figure of. Seth has successfully helped to steer English folk into the musical mainstream with his high-energy performances and a series of best-selling albums over the last 10 years since he released the Mercury Prize nominated Kitty Jay in 2004.
In between recording the new album in 2013 Seth toured in Europe, Australia and then amidst a hectic summer of festival appearances, appearances with The Full English Project and the birth of his twins, he also flew to New York to meet Izzy Young for a BBC Radio 4 special called ‘The Folklorist’.
