Alternative rock icons Pixies have been announced as headliners for this year’s Eden Sessions. The hugely-influential US band can count David Bowie, Bono and Thom Yorke among their most ardent admirers.

Thom Yorke has said that while at school, “the Pixies had changed my life”. Bono said they were “one of America’s greatest bands ever” and Bowie has said that Pixies made “just about the most compelling music of the entire 80s.”

Formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1986, Pixies are Black Francis (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), and David Lovering on drums, and will be joined by touring bassist Paz Lenchantin on the band’s summer UK/European dates. Last September, Pixies released EP-1 and then EP-2 in January, the band’s first collection of new music in more than 20 years.
