We are a young four-piece bluegrass band from Penzance, Cornwall. We started to make a name for ourselves while buskin' in Penzance. We play bluegrass music for the love of it and thrill audiences with our harmonies and the way we engage with our instruments.
“Flats and Sharps may be one of newest names on the British Bluegrass/Folk scene… Oh but what a band!” We started to make a name for ourselves while buskin' in Penzance in Cornwall. Gigs swiftly followed, we went to Sore Fingers Week getting a standing ovation in the Student concert, a first! That got us festival gigs at Orwell, Didmarton, Gower and the Cornish Bluegrass Festival. Not a bad result for a two song performance!
18 Months on and with over 200 gigs under our belt, we have supported many prestigious names in the British Music Scene including “Fisherman’s Friends” and “The Beat”, opened Ralph Lauren’s First European Store in Covent Garden, London and have progressed extremely well in a nationwide competition, as a result we have played at The Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Youth Proms. All in all, it creates an amazing amount of excitement between us, the audience too, and it’s great to be doing what you love with your best mates.
